So why do photographers choose Instagram? Why do so many Instagrammers choose Instagram? So before, when photographers wanted to create photography and capture photos, it was not quite easy for them to showcase them to the public. It was really hard, you know, they only had support from museums, showcase libraries, or magazines. So that was back in the time, it was very hard. But now everything has changed. On Instagram, they can showcase their photos and they can get hundreds, thousands, and lakhs of followers quickly. They don’t have to, you know, live in that kind of stuff. They can just do so many things very quickly. So many photographers are creating their accounts these days. They are simply creating nice photos. They are creating, they are managing their grid very perfectly. They are just, you know, announcing their talent to the people on Instagram posts. They are just keeping their account engaging. And with that, they just gain so many followers in just a few months. So you have probably seen this in your feed many times. So many photographic, so many cinematic types of photos are coming out so fast these days. Did you notice that?
How the Algorithm Helped Photographers
Algorithm helped photographers a lot. So Instagram, when Instagram first started, it was mostly a photo-sharing application. And for so many years, people used it to share their photos with their fans. Photographers took over Instagram and just captured their photos and shared them with their followers. But now everything has changed. Now Instagram has become more of an algorithm platform rather than a photo-sharing platform. So now the algorithm has helped photographers very well to easily reach their targeted followers without worrying a lot. They can now share their photos with their fans, with their followers. They can showcase their work to their clients. They can easily get clients on Instagram with the help of chat boxes. Things are easy now. So you have probably noticed that now Instagram just pushes so much on reels, exclusively reels. And now photos are getting less reach. You know, I will tell you the reason. So this is to compete with TikTok. So they had to come up with the idea. They are just making the push of reels so high that these days images are not getting that much audience. But if you have a short video, it can get millions of views so quickly. So now, before, when Instagram showcased the photos of photographers to their fans, they could do it with images, but now Instagram hardly showcases images to interested people because it is so much into reels now. Because of this, photographers are not happy with that decision. So what should you do now? If you are posting, you won’t get that much high reach, but if you make a reel, you can get very high reach. So because of that, this thing affects photographers a lot because before Instagram, photographers focused on photos, they could easily set up the whole thing, but now they are just not getting as much as they were getting before. So because of this, these photographers just don’t want to use Instagram anymore. So they have an option of Pinterest, they can try Pinterest, but also Pinterest doesn’t give them that much reach which Instagram used to give them.
How to Get Reach for Your Photos Now
So the question is that if Instagram is not posting, how can the photos that I shoot get the reach they used to get from people? The simple proof is that they just can’t follow the same route they used to follow before. You know, before they could simply get on Instagram, take a nice photo, and Instagram would pull the audience for them. But now they have to change the strategy they are using. Now I will tell you one strategy here, how you can get reach. So you have to change the strategy, like you have to utilize Pinterest, you have to utilize Instagram, you have to utilize TikTok, you have to utilize some other platforms like Twitter too. Twitter these days is also getting into the algorithm since Elon Musk took over. So what you have to do, you don’t focus only on photos, you have to focus on reels. You can simply put photos in reels itself. Instagram is going to treat it as a reel, like the photo will be treated as a reel and you can get nice reach on them. You can simply, like before, capture photos, or if you want to make a reel, like if you are not only into photography, you can create a cinematic video, that’s well and good for you. But if you only want to focus on photography, then that’s also good. You just have to post those photos into reels. Okay, now that is the first thing you have to do on Instagram. Just go there, create nice photos, make a grid, choose nice captions and hashtags, and just post the reel. Instagram will give you the audience. Now the second thing is Pinterest. You have to start posting on Pinterest too. You know, if you click very nice photos, like cinematic type of photos, which people like, Pinterest can give you nice reach too, because high-quality photos really do well on Pinterest. But if you have very low-quality or just average photos, Pinterest is not going to help you. You have to come up with a very different kind of idea. You have to click pictures which are more like wallpaper-type photos. And you can utilize Reddit, what we say, Twitter too. You just have to create an account on Twitter and showcase your pictures there too, because Twitter is a very engaging platform, like people chat a lot there. This is more of a text platform, but don’t worry, you can still utilize it, build followers there, and then you can simply bring those followers to different platforms like Pinterest and Instagram.
The Reddit Master Strategy
So you probably have, if you are a photographer, you probably have only thought about Instagram. You are just thinking, busying your mind to create different strategies on Instagram to create photos and capture the candid photos the most. But Reddit can help you a lot. You probably have never heard about Reddit, but it is a very perfect platform for you. Reddit is very good, very engaging, even more engaging than Instagram and Twitter combined. They have a very mature audience. They are very engaging, they comment, they tell you ideas, they give you feedback, and they do all this kind of stuff. But you can’t get those things on Instagram or Twitter. So we will tell you how you can choose Reddit and create your own presence as a photographer. So what you have to do is simply go and find Reddit, of course, download the app, and just go search there for photography, photographic-type keywords. And there you are going to see communities. Okay, you have to join different communities and you have to start engaging in the community itself. You have to start posting in these Reddit communities. So you have to focus on the community. But make sure you don’t do anything against their rules. You know, Reddit is a very strict platform. They are going to ban your account if you do anything unwanted there. Just focus on photography and post your posts there. Take approval from the admin and start posting in the community. When you start posting in the community, you will start getting followers. You will start getting feedback and audience reactions on your photos. They are going to teach you. They are going to tell you what is right and what is wrong, like whether they like the photo or not, because the community is made of people who are very active in photography. They are either photographers themselves or people who like photography. So it is a very valuable kind of thing for you. From there, you have to start making your own community. Start creating your own community on Reddit. Do it by posting in different communities and gathering users from different places. Now you can use those followers, you know, even for premium photos, and you can bring those followers from different places.
